Charlie Chaplin press photograph with wife, Oona Chaplin, son Sidney Chaplin, and actress Claire Bloom from the Charlie Chaplin film Limelight is for sale. This rare Charlie Chaplin press photograph features a close-up impromptu photograph of Charlie Chaplin, his family and leading lady from his film Limelight.

The Charlie Chaplin press photograph measures 6.00 x 8.00 inches and has the P.A. Reuter rubber stamp to the reverse to the photograph, with green paper adhered to the reverse giving typed details of the circumstances for the photograph.

The typed details to the reverse of the photograph reads:

“The Chaplins with Claire Bloom

Sept 23rd 1952 PAR 31375-10 (F-G)

The Chaplins with Claire Bloom

Charlie Chaplin, with his wife, Oona, his eldest son, Sidney, and Claire Bloom, leading lady in his new film ‘Limelight’ (second right) at the Savoy Hotel, London, this evening (Tuesday).

Romance has been rumoured between Claire and Sidney, but Charlie, questioned about an engagement, said yesterday ‘As far as I know it’s all up to Miss Bloom’.

Chaplin and his family are on a six months visit to Europe.

Sept 23rd 1952 PAR 31375-10 (F-G)”

Condition of the Charlie Chaplin press photograph is Near Mint with only the very slightest and lightest of creasing that is very small and minor and only mentioned for completeness. A very rare Charlie Chaplin press photograph of museum quality.

This is an important Charlie Chaplin press photograph since Chaplin was refused re-entry into the U.S. due to what they believed was a Communist sympathiser. However, on this day Charlie Chaplin was reported in the Guardian newspaper as saying that he was not a Communist.
